my process

First- I’d love to hear your rough mix! This helps me to get a vibe for the song and figure out what questions I need to ask you so I can more deeply understand your vision of where you want the song to go.

Then.. I ask all of those questions! The best way we can achieve your vision is to make sure we’re completely on the same page before we even start. We’ll pick a time, chat about influences, inspirations, aspirations, dope tunes/albums you’ve been checking out, my techniques for achieving the perfect crust on a steak? Idk it’s your call! I’ll also answer any questions you’ve got whether about the music itself or files, deliverables, etc.

After that, I’ll do the first version of the mix - the VIBE CHECK mix!

I don’t aim for perfection (yet). I’ll get it most of the way there, so you can listen and let me know if I’m headed in the right direction or if we need to make some adjustments to get back on track.

Once we’ve got the finish line in sight, we’ll start getting into the weeds with revisions. And don’t worry, I have an unlimited revision policy because I don’t stop until you’re stoked on the mix. ~ AC GUARANTEE ~

That said, I DO ask that all of the deciding members (bandmates/producer/etc) compile your notes BEFORE you send them to me. That way you won’t accidentally give me contradicting mix notes (like when the guitarist says “turn the guitars up” and the vocalist says “turn the guitars down” and I’m caught trying to not hurt anyone’s feelings lol).

I also ask that you send the notes via EMAIL, with time markers when applicable. This helps to make sure none of the mix notes fall through the cracks and get lost in a text thread. Obviously, if something is easier to express verbally (or vocally) we can absolutely set up a phone/zoom call to talk through it.

After the mixes are approved, we’ll make final tweaks to the master. Sometimes I master it myself, or I’ll bring in an outside mastering engineer - the price is usually the same, but I make this decision based on the style and vibe of the song, and who I think would be the best fit for handling the mastering.

When that’s all done, I’ll send you all of the mixes (including your full mix, instrumental mix, and a performance/karaoke mix). I can also send you mix stems for sync, backing tracks, remixes, etc. Basically, I want you to have all of the files you may need in the future so you’re never caught scrambling to find something you don’t have.

So, what do you think? Ready to get started?
